Let's Make Tangle Art! Wells, Maine

Participants will have an opportunity to learn 9 to 12 designs which can be incorporated into a drawn design. Tangles are typically black ink on a white background. The designs look like doodles, but they are detailed and specific. They are fun and can be quietly meditative. All materials provided including instructions. $25. Let's Knit a Hat! Wells, Maine

All participants will have an opportunity to learn knitting by making a winter hat out of yarn. Knitting is believed to have originated in the Middle East in the 5th Century and traveled to Europe with wool traders soon afterwards. We will cast on, knit, knit two together and hand sew. Let's Make a Beaded Rosette! Wells, Maine

All participants will receive a $25 American Indian Beading Design Kit in which instructions are included. Together, we will work through the directions for a beaded rosette over two class periods. Beaded rosettes were typically used as trade items. Now, native artisans attach these beaded forms to a wide variety of garments, from headdresses or bonnets to shirts, pants, moccasins, and gloves. $75 Wells-Ogunquit Adult Education Application

At the Wells, Maine High School we will experience making glass art from stained glass and other glass objects from home. We will glue the objects to a 8” x 10” piece of framed glass. At the Wells, Maine High School we will learn how to bead a Native American Beading Design of a Rosette. A kit will be part of the class, along with directional support. Quilt history dates back to the Egyptians and quilted garments were also used as padding under the knights’ armor. Feel free to bring patterns or templates.
